Mitsubishi Laser Resonator
Unique, patented “cross-flow” design
The laser resonator is the laser, with the remainder of the machine basically a beam delivery system. That said, most competitors don’t talk much about the laser. Many use lasers containing glassware and expensive to replace turbine blowers. Others are actually systems integrators, patching together their drive system to someone else’s laser.
Mitsubishi has always manufactured its own laser, dating back to the ‘70s. Mitsubishi’s cross-flow design offers a number of advantages not found with a traditional RF or DC excited fast axial flow laser. The Cross-Flow is available at 2kw, 4kw, and now 6kw.
- No Refurbs – no glass tubes, no high speed turbine blowers, no refurbs.
- Lowest Laser Gas Consumption – ranges from just 2 liters/hour for the 20CF, to 4.5 liters/hour for the 60CFR. One cylinder typically lasts the better part of a year.
- Inexpensive Laser Gas – the pre-mix is made up of just 28% helium, an increasingly scare gas. Competitive machines require laser gas containing over twice as much helium.
- No “Simmer Current” – a Cross-Flow drops to a very low power when not cutting, even when the head lifts from one hole to another, greatly reducing overall electricity usage.

- Fast Start – start up to full power in under a minute.
- A Better Beam – the Cross-Flow resonator delivers a rectangular wave, high peak pulse for more efficient, stable cutting over the entire power range.
- Less Heat – a Mitsubishi cuts comparatively cooler than a traditional fast axial flow. This makes it an excellent choice for plate, less than material thickness holes, and allows you to nest parts closer together, all without the need for a messy water shroud.
